assistance from the Colonial Development Fund in
respect to these two Schemes.
They observe, however,
that the two schemes form the first portion of develop-
ments on an extensive scale which are regarded as
essential if the urgent and increasing water require-
ments of Hong Kong are to be met. They have according.
ly instructed me to state that they would welcome the
submission of other proposals for assistance, either
towards completion of the water supply project above
mentioned or in respect of development projects,
falling within the scope of the Colonial Development
Act, which the Government is not in a position to
take up immediately without such assistance.
4. A similar letter is being sent to the
Treasury, and a copy of this letter is being sent to
the office of the Lord Privy Seal.
